View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] What happens if you put 32bit Ubuntu on a 64bit machine?

I think my friend may have done just that. Assuming he used the wubi installer (which I'm pretty sure he did), what is going to happen? Will 32bit Ubuntu correct itself, or totally frag his system?

Like whiffle said nothing will happen I use 32 bit Ubuntu on my 64 bit Machine and I'm not dead.....yet ;)

You might want to read on the differences between 32 bit & 64 bit.

Summary:
If your doing hardware intensive stuff, such as video editing and hosting a server, then you will get better speed from a 64 bit OS, but there isn't much difference in smaller stuff.

Edit: Is there any way to make a 32 bit instillation of Ubuntu 64 bit? PM me please.
