View Full Version : [ubuntu] Burning a ubuntu live disc in Roxio on a dvd in vista?

I know vista sucks, but I am ordering a new hard drive for ubuntu/xp dual boot right now, but my question is how to get roxio to burn ubuntu to a dvd so I can boot from it. I tried making one and it finished fine and everything, but the computer would not boot from it. Any suggestions?

perhaps too simplistic, but did you see this link:

Also, don't format the disc before burning...it's been a while since I was in Vista, so my memory is a bit hazy. I think I used Nero last time.

The trick is that you don't want to burn the .ISO file to the disk. Instead, you need to burn what is inside the .ISO file. Basically, you have to use a different mode.

Here are several tutorials that should help:

Hope that helps!

Infrared is the ISO burner of my choice when I was using windows. Dont know if it will work on Vista though, I had used it on XP. (INFRARED IS FREEWARE)

However, go into your BIOS settings and make sure you have it listed where the CD/DVDROM will boot up first, and not the HD or Floppy (if you have one of those old things, I still do, and love it, lol).

Although I used Nero, I had no problem burning the ISO to a CD (not DVD) In MS Vista. Just double-clicked the ISO image and Nero loaded up without a problem.
