Is there any way to enable it so things on the taskbar with highlight/flash/etc when a new event happens within them, such as with Pidgin?

Does anyone know of any? Just some way to get the taskbar boxes to do something to let me know there's some activity? Anything? :|

I'm being told that the window should turn orange... but it doesn't. ._.

You can install the pidgin-guifications (http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/pidgin-guifications) (for MSN style notifications) or the pidgin-libnotify (http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/pidgin-libnotify) (for getting bubbles) Pidgin plugin.

Don't forget to activate it in Pidgin, whichever you install, from Tools -> Plug-ins.

Just to add that you can install them using Synaptic, of course.
