View Full Version : [ubuntu] Viewing using s-video

Hi all slight query

With windows changing on to a secondary output was easy ie control panel- display-select between 1 and 2 and hey presto output was put through s video to my tv.

Now how do i do this on ubuntu.
Your help as always is greatly appreciated.

I would also like to know how to use s-video.
Does it matter which graphics card are you using? (I have nvidia)
Does xrandr help?

Try just hooking your box into to second monitor (tv).

Then restart x (ctrl+alt+backspace) or reboot the system.

It could be that everything will be good out of the box.

On my ATI card, the s-video port is switched off by default in the driver config (it can't really work out of the box because s-video is not a single standard).

To switch it on (and keep it switched on) I have to use the ati-config command.
