I have a Dell Inspiron 1526 notebook running Ubuntu 8.04. Under power settings, I have all the power saving features (screen goes dim, put computer to sleep, etc.) turned OFF when running on AC power. However, even when I am running on AC power.
However, even with these settings, my screen goes dark after about ten minutes in inactivity. When I bring it back to life, my desktop is screwed up...windows partially cut off or repeating, etc. Hard to explain, but its basically unusable without logging off and logging back in. Not sure if that is related to power settings or not, but it seems it could be avoided altogether if my screen wouldn't go to sleep in the first place.
