View Full Version : [xubuntu] Installation problems; Sata harddrive no viewable

Got a new harddrive and wanted to install xubuntu. Therefore I first used gparted to format the hd, which went perfectly fine, but when it came to booting from the xubuntu live usb key I made, then problems arised. As I came to step 4 where you choose the placement for the installation, only the usb key that it was install on was viewable under the manual option.

Tried to do it over and over again with different format of the harddrive, part ext3 part unallocated, all unallocated and all ext3, but nothing changed.

Due to the reason that gparted could view the discs when booted alone, and not when runned through xubuntu, I came to the conclusion that it might have something to do with sata drivers, but I am not sure, and if it is I have no idea how to fix it, which is why I am writing to get your help

thanks a mill
