I am wondering that Ubuntu may be POSIX-compliant? I see that GNU/Linux is mostly POSIX-compliant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/POSIX#Mostly_POSIX-compliant). Is this true? I ask this question because I prefer a Unix or Unix-like (POSIX) operating system instead of Microsoft Windows. Is Ubuntu POSIX-compliant?

Ubuntu, like most (if not all) other Linux distributions is not registered as POSIX compliant. However, you can add unofficial POSIX compliancy to Ubuntu to bring it up to standards, if it's not already there.
