I have had ubuntu on my notebook for a while now, but I recently built a new desktop and thought I would put ubuntu on my desktop. I have been running xp 32 bit and vista 64 bit on it for a while now so I know its not bad hardware. There is a setting in the bios set to 64-bit use since vista requires it but it doesn't effect 32bit xp. I tried booting from a 32 and 64 bit cd and neither works. I can get to where I select language, then tell it to try it without changing anything. It goes into the loader and sits there forever. Any ideas? Here is my hardware:

Gigabyte EP35-DS3L
Intel E2200
Nvidia 9600gt
4GB Ram
1 Samsung 1680x1050 monitor
1 Dell 1280x1024 monitor

try using only one monitor.
