installing dual boot (ubuntu , windows xp ) question

i intend to dual boot ubuntu 8.04 and windows xp , what is the minimum volume of the hard disk ubuntu need to install and what is the best volume for installing it keeping in mind that i have 59.2 GB ?
which OS should i install first ?

1) Install Windows first. If installed second, it will overwrite GRUB. Windows Bootloader does not recognize nonwindows oses.

2) Make Ubuntu's root partition 8 - 10 GB.
