I installed mythbuntu thinking it was like a apple front row type of interface but all i have is a different simplified desktop, how do i get back to ubuntu desktop? help!!

in a terminal



sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop


from the login screen you may have to click sessions and select GNOME. I believe mythbuntu uses Xfce.

will this get me back to my original desktop or does it actually reinstall ubuntu, i.e. did I trash ubuntu desktop when I installed mythbuntu and mythbuntu media centre?

the command will just reinstall the ubuntu desktop which is GNOME. This will not reinstall all of ubuntu.
