What appointment scheduler and calender are available?

I need something that I can plug a doctors appointment ( or a date with the widow woman next door :)) into and that morning when I start up my computer, a message will appear on the screen.

I use Evolution. I tried Thunderbird with the Lightning extensions, but changed to Evolution.

If you're using GNOME, then you can easily access your Evolution calendar from the date/time display in the top panel.

I wound up using 'SunBird'. Thanks for the reply.

I use Pimlico Dates, Contacts and Tasks (which uses Evolution, so also integrates with GNOME). Pimlico is nice and quick, doesn't get in my way with pointless details :)

At the moment I use the lightning add-on for thunderbird on my windows machine, I' trying to get a synchronized environment with my Ubuntu laptop but for some reason, lightning fails under Ubuntu :-(
