Question going from 32 bit to 64 bit

I'm upgrading my computer to an AMD 64 X2 and was going to try out Ubuntu 64 bit. In the past I have simply installed Ubuntu on my new computer and copied over the Home directory. Will this still work if I copy my home directory from a 32 bit to a 64 bit OS? The only thing I am worried about is loosing my email in evolution.

Any ideas before I take the plunge?

It ought to work, especially if you're running 32 bit apps in a 64bit OS. I guess for now you could try a dual boot and see if it works or not
