So im currently running ubuntu and kicked vista to the curb lol,

I then took a look at the live cd of kubuntu and i liked the kde interface so i found a way to run both without using the dual boot method by using this command

sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop

After it was finished i restarted my laptop and ran the kde interface under the options on the startup screen.

Now my problem is that it looks nothing like the kde gui i saw when i used the live cd so my question is did i do something wrong?, and if thats how it looks then could i dual boot ubuntu and kubuntu without formating ubuntu?

Kubuntu should look almost identical to how it did when you were using the live cd. What are the differences (ideally provide a screenshot, or links to external websites, showing the two desktops you have experienced). They should have both looked like this...
Maybe the live cd you used, was the Kubuntu KDE4 Remix CD, or an alpha version of the next version of Kubuntu?

You could dual boot between ubuntu and kubuntu. You would need to make some spare space on the hard drive. The easiest way to do this is to load the ubuntu live cd and run the GParted partition manager, and shrink one the partitions.

i went here http://www.kubuntu.org/

and it came up like this when i used the live cd , i think this blows gnome away.

But i think your right,..... so then this is a beta then?

Intrepid is the version name of the next ubuntu release (the current one is hardy, and before that was gutsy).
