This may be a stupid question but I have two Perl directories one that is perl5 and the other is perl/5.8. Is this something I did boneheadedly, maybe it was using CPAN to download modules or something. How can I removed perl5 without breaking anything.

This is standard Perl installation behavior. Don't do anything or you'll probably end up breaking your installation.

it was there automagically meaning it needs to be there.. Once you modify it... move it or... even delete it.... You might be sorry because your system might break.... A lot of system programs and scripts depend on Perl
