Ok this is a repost (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=915395). In my last thread I posted about this I was advised to repost in order to receive the best help I can receive.

Ok so well I installed ubuntu 8.04 on my compaq presario f763nr. It looks and runs very well so far. My only problem is my wireless card. Now I do not have any cat-5 cable so a physical connection to the router is very impossible right now. To work around this I downloaded the driver through windows and burned it to a cd with infrarecorder. I then transferred said contents of cd to my ubuntu desktop. Now I just don't know what do next in order to get the download driver as my driver for my wireless. So any help would be appreciated and thanks all again.

Ok like I stated previously. I put the driver on my ubuntu desktop by burning it in windows on my dual boot machine. After trying to follow the 64bit instrunctions from here (http://www.ubuntugeek.com/atheros-ar5007-wireless-with-madwifi-on-ubuntu-804-hardy-heron.html) I haven't had any sucess. I don't know if this is do to the fact that because I didn't download it the file is not in the right directory/folder. So ubuntu can't extract the driver. I moved the file to my home directory and tried the follow the direct after this command wget http://blakecmartin.googlepages.com/ar5007eg-64-0.2.tar.gz but it still didn't work out.

I am really at a lost for what to do from here. I was looking really forward to learning but I think this may be as far as it goes. So if anyone has any thoughts or ideals where I can go from here I'd really appreciate it. Thanks all again.

ps.... Im not using madwifi I am using the 64bit version because thats what I think I should be using sorry for putting madwifi in the subject title
