View Full Version : [ubuntu] No error message - Ubuntu just won't boot!

We just purchased a brand new server with two 500 gig hard drives running on a RAID setup. It did not come with an operating system loaded onto it. I have Ubuntu 8.04, installed it seemingly successful, but it won't boot up! All I get is a blinking underscore in the top/left corner. Just sits there and blinks forever...

I have tried reinstalling Ubuntu, playing around with various options, but I get the same result every time.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks,

-David

Sounds like it didnt load on the proper partition...will the live cd boot up?

Yes, the live CD boots just fine.

My motherboard is an Intel Server Board S3200SHV/S3210SHLC

I looked up the operating systems that Intel claims to be compatible with this motherboard, and Ubuntu was not on the list. Other forms of Linux, such as Red Hat were on the list.

Is this causing the problem perhaps?

Or is my raid setup complicating the issue?
