For some reason this topic never ever gets old to me. Now it's a site.

One problem though... they need Ubuntu people!

Here's mine: http://www.ourdesktops.com/desktop_user.aspx?user=rossjman1. It's an okay site. Why are the thumbnails stretched out? Why can't I edit my desktop without having to reupload and retype everything out (if I wanted to add a tag to it for instance). Good idea, mediocre implementation.

...www.ourdesktops.com...It's an okay site. ....

It is nothing in comparison to any of the monthly screenshot threads on Ubuntuforums.org!

You don't need people who don't know anything (about Linux) dismissing your (Linux) creations. Linux has enough of its own such sites.i.e. Linux dedicated where customizations can TRULY be appreciated.

You guys(with the quality Linux desktop screenshots....which is most of the people on www.ubuntuforums.org) should just let the "2 X 4" and "doctor-a-day" idiots compare eachother's apples and oranges to eachother and bring eachother down. It's not where I will be going to get ideas for Ubuntu...THAT'S FOR SURE!!!

That's kind of a mean way to put it. Just because someone doesn't use Linux doesn't mean they have no opinion on visuals.

Heck, I think this would BRING people to Linux, rather than push them away from it. People could say "Hey, you know that looks quite nice.", and you've got yourself a nice opportunity to advocate it without appearing too pushy.

"Our Desktops is a place where tech enthusiasts show off their virtual workspaces. They come from all over the world and work on many different types of operating systems. These people all have one thing in common -- they love their desktops!"
