i need to use an http tunneling client on hardy so that i can use torrents which is banned on the network that i am connected to.i am an absolute newbie so please tell me how to configure it easily as well.i know your freedom works on linux, but ihave heard that its free version serves for only six hours a day.and i need something that i can use for as long as i want, since torrents take too long to download.

If you are talking about getting firefox to access a private, internal network, e.g., government, private business, that is not accessible to the general public, one LEGAL way of accessing such sites is using ssh and SOCKS.

If permissions are granted, is to ssh into a node through a well-defined port number. If you are running firefox 2.0+, then you must change your SOCKS settings, and once manual proxy settings are set you should have access to the private network.

I know how to do this in principle but I am still working out the details about the SSH options that are needed. Good luck.

You will need to ask your network administrator for permission. If anyone tells you how to bypass your work, school, or other place's restrictions then they are out of their minds.

We are not here to help you break rules.

This type of activity is not supported here. If you need access you need to speak with your network administrator, otherwise you are tying to do something that you should not and punching a hole in a school/corporate/government/private firewall may have serious repercussions.

Download the torrents at home.
