I'm having trouble with my Dell(lexmark) 720 Inkjet. I've installed the Lexmark z600 driver, but nothing prints. I'm using Kde but have tried installing the driver via gnome-cups-manager as well with the same result. When I print a test page, it tells me that the info was successfully sent to the printer (even if it is off), but it never does anything. The printer doesn't make one sound. I've seen a lot of posts of others who are successfully using this printer. Am I doing something wrong?

You need to convert the driver available from Lexmark from RPM to Deb.
A great tutorial is at http://madbuntu.com/2008/07/installing-a-dell-720-printer-in-ubuntu-linux/.
Make sure you install alien from synaptic first.
Good luck.

I had actually already tried this, but I went ahead and tried it again without success. Here is a picture of the properties for my printer after I get it set up. Even if the printer is turned off, Ubuntu tells me that the printer is ready.

Hey, my bad, cause I wrote my last message just after installing the package and did not verify functionality.
Picture me banging my head against the desk left with the same situation as what you just describe minutes after posting my first smart post...
Anyway, I went back to another tutorial, the one I had found the first time I got my laptop with ubuntu 7.04.
(I just finnished a clean install of 8.10)
These directions worked perfectly both times, so you should be fine too.

I sincerely hope my second post gets you out of trouble.
