I'm trying to install Kubuntu 8.04.1 on an HP dv6700z. I ran Ubuntu 8.04 until recently, when I partitioned it in order to dual boot with XP. I have XP installed and an empty partition for Kubuntu, but I cannot get the disk to load. I followed the instructions here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto)but the disk I made does not load. When I attempt to load it, the screen goes black (this starting the computer with the disk inserted) and hums loudly for about five minutes, than loads Windows. This is not its normal start up so the disk must be doing something. In addition, when I insert the disk while the computer is already on, I get the install menu. Any ideas how to get it to install in my empty partition? Thanks.
