I am attempting to load the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition onto an eMachines T4200 with 1gb of memory. I have checked the cmos and it is set in the following order: Floppy, CDROM, Harddisk, Network Drive.

I have copied the downloaded iso file onto a cd (3 times actually) and have verified the MD5 checksum on each. When attempting to boot from the cd I can see that the computer tries to read the CD and then proceeds with the windows XP load.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks,

Hank

In some computers, F8 brings a secondary menu where you can choose the CD
