I want to switch to Ubuntu, but before I do, I just want to clear something up. Is there any reason to be using the 64-bit version as opposed to the 32-bit version? After a whole lot of browsing, it seems like there are alot of problems that I'll run into if I use 64-bit, and there is no clear reason to use it. Is it faster? Is it just experimental? Anyone want to clue me in? :???:

EDIT:

Looks like this might not be the perfect forum section for my question. Sorry if I got it wrong.

Do you have a 64-bit CPU? I would assume so before you ask, but if you are new to this scene, you may not know. No offense either way...

Yes, I do. And, naturally no offense taken. :p

I moved this thread to community chat.

I think 64 bit is primarily useful for servers and for some programmers at the moment. But 64 bit is the future for everyone.

At the moment there's no point at all, but in the future it will be like the difference between 16 bit and 32 :)
