Hey,
Can anyone direct me to any links or software that helps me to take an image of Ubuntu and the installed software which is as easy as Ubuntu itself?

I have heard of softwares that could do the job, but I have only actually come across Slackware versions, which required me to recompile the code and all. Phew!

It becomes very difficult to set up machines, and install software manually on each. Its a hell, when there's no internet connection. I don't know whats the term for describing such software, and hence the beating around the bush.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks a lot.

Clonezilla or partimage will do it:

They seem to take an image of the entire partition.

I DON'T need the data. I only need the software installed on it.

So when I install from the disk, I get a brand new system, ready to go. I don't want the old system restored. I hope I am being clear.

Does PArtimage ans Clonezilla do that??

You can use AptOnCD, but is a partial solution.
Another thing is to go to Synaptic and make a script.
