The theme is bug guys, it only displays if you don't have Compiz.
That said, why do they have such a bad metacity theme?

Congratulation for the new alpha version.
I hope they include the new kernel in final release, that way i can install it on my Thinkpad T400 with no hurdle.

one thing that made me mad is the Theme :-( it is still the really old them in the distribution :(

The ugly metacity theme is just a "bug". Ubuntu is currently hiring a designer(s) which will create the new theme. Just check out the mailing lists.

I'm with everyone on a new theme. I get so tired of the standard theme, and with my computer not liking compiz, and getting older, I'm stuck with just an ugly basic desktop, which I still love don't get me wrong. It's time for something new. Can't wait! Getting a new computer for my birthday in March next year, so we will see what gets slapped on it besides windows.

I am running Fedora 9 along side Ubuntu 8.04 right now and quite frankly, Fedora looks a lot better.

In my opinion, that titlebar is the nicest theme Ubuntu has ever had. Clean, minimal, nice :)
