I'm new to linux so I have to try a lot of things to understand and get some things working....and now and then something goes very very wrong..
Instead of installing the distro again I'd like to backup the partition the way I do with my windows installation (for wich I use Norton Ghost....wich doesn't seem to want to backup my linux partition).

I found Ghost for linux on the net, does anyone have experience with this program or know another easy to use one out there ?

You could try partimage (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/partimage)

There are a few programs you can use I use backuppc on my server as it backs up everything, however sbackup is also a good backup program that will backup any/all directories you wish. Both programs run automatically in the background.

Hope that helps.

To use partimage I see I need a live CD, I'm using Hardy but the latest one I have as an image is Gutsy.
I don't imagine that's a problem but just asking anyway...
