Hi I can no longer open the terminal application for some reason. Doing some googling it might be that its my xorg.conf file:

Does this look wrong?

Does anyone know why I might not be able to open terminal please?

When I try and open it it tries for a while and then just disappears.

Thanks

Your xorg.conf looks okay but i only know a little about it. Do you know if the xorg.conf file had been changed just before the gnome-terminal broke? You could check the file modified date.

You could try opening another terminal application by pressing Alt+F2 and typing xterm. Check that xterm is installed in synaptic package manager first, although i think it is installed by default in most linux distros.

I would also consider deleting /home/twistedtwig/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal which might be corrupted or hold some unsual value that prevents it from being displayed. Also, if you can get xterm to open, you can launch gnome-terminal from it to see if it brings up any messages as it fails.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I don't seem to have a folder or file like that:

I would do a copy and show you but don't know how to do that in xterm.
