View Full Version : [kubuntu] Can't Install Konqueror

I am unable to install konqueror under Kubuntu 8.04.1. And even though a generic icon is shown for konqueror on the main panel, clicking the icon gives me a "Malformed URL" message.

The problem seems to be caused by a bad, missing, or just plain messed up netscape plugin for konqueror. The installation of konqueror always stops when it tries to install the plugin. Since I don't use netscape I have no use for this plugin. Yet its failure to install messes everything up.

I've tried both removing and purging the plugin from the Adept Manager. But when that is successful and I try again to install konqueror the installation fails again at the point where it tries to install the hopeless netscape plugin.

How can I install konqueror successfully under kubuntu?

No, Dolphin is an unacceptable alternative. I find it far less suitable to my needs than konqueror.
