Hi everybody!
Please suggest me some team-based PC-Games based on Wars(WW2 and the like). Games like the CoD series but other than those. I'll play 'em on Windows.

Does it have single-player missions?

No I don't think it does, it's multiplayer only. You might be able to get bots for it though. The new Enemy-Territory Quake Wars is a lot better for single player, but it's not free. And it doesn't run very well on my old computer :(

What are your specs? I've Intel 945GM Mobile Express. Is it gonna run on that?

I have a 6600GT but I'm not sure if that's what's causing the problem as most other games run ok. I have a P4 2.4 GHz processor.

You can download the demo for free and see how it runs.

Day of Defeat Source.

Great multiplayer shooter. You play as the Allies or die Germans.

Custom maps available (gungames, ....).

I believe it's around $10 on steam.

Mmmm.

Did you ever play counterstrike: condition zero?

That one has single player missions and a great online multiplayer section.

It's a bit of age, but the gameplay rules.

CS: Source is better but is only online.

Another great game is Half-life 2. It has several online game modes as well. But they suck. I got counterstrike source for free with it, I think you can still those.

These aren't WWII but still, a great shooter is a great shooter.

Actually, I've had an overdose of CS games. And now I get real bored with 'em.
I acknowledge the fact: "a great shooter is a great shooter"; but still WWII owns..:)

When I'm bored with CSS, I play some gun games. Great for picking off noobs.

I'm not sure if you played COD 4 because you said WWII and COD is set in modern times.

That's a great game with super graphics. The game play isn't on par with CSS according to me, but it's still good.

COD World at War will be coming out this year and will be about WWII agian.

You will be able to fight as the Americans invading Japan or as the Russians invading Germany.

Others you could try:

Brothers in Arms

I haven't played it but the videos look nice.

Also, the Medal of Honor series is obligated for any WWII fan.

--

The Battlefield series are also top notch.

But only Battlefield 1942 is about WWII, the newest aren't. In these games, besides shooting you can drive cars, tanks, helicopters, ... so it's not exactly a FPS.

You're right! I've not played COD4. I've seen the videos. They look super-cool, but the graphics are too hot for my card to handle. Hope to play it soon......as I'll be getting a good card(btw, could you suggest some which play most recent games and is also supported by Ubuntu and Compiz-Fusion).

Also, can I play Battlefield 1942 on Intel 945GM(sob.....these Intel cards suck just fine!!:() ?
