View Full Version : [ubuntu] Gnome does not load correctly after hardware upgrade

I recently upgraded my graphics card, but Gnome no longer will load correctly. Everything looks and appears fine until the sign-in window. It almost appears as if the screen refresh rate is out of bounds because large and thin lines stretch across the screen from left to right.

It appears that everything else is ok, because I can just make out the login prompt field. I type the user name and password and Gnome loads, but with the screen unusable. The only reason I am able to log in, is because I know the routine.

Question:
Is there a way to force Gnome to perform a hardware scan and load default drivers/settings? I am not sure if this is a driver issue or a refresh issue.

Thank you,
E

What is the graphics card you just installed? Ubuntu doesn't figure things out automagically like MS Windows does.

(Let the spice flow. ;^) ...)
