Dose alsa need to be in the server install?

Seriously this distro is great the only one thing that I would change is the fact that also is part of the core applications. For runing a server you realy dont need this (or at least I don't).

Maby some one can shed some light on this for me.

I use my server to run MPD (http://www.musicpd.org/) and play my music with it. In reality though, I would have no problem having to install it [ALSA].

Yea see thats what I'm saying. If you need/want it then you could always install it.
