hey everyone I,m installing ubuntu live cd from a cd drive and during the installation and at 62% an error message popup saying "the installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk. [Errno 5] input/output error. This particular error is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disc or drive. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens, to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment." amd i know that i don't have any problem with either my drive or hard disk and they are:
samsung 320 gb
sony dvd-rw drive
so what might be the problem !!!! i installed it 4 times and the same error at 62% ???? and i burned my cd at the lowest speed (x4) please help and thx!!!

Did you checksum for the iso. If you download an iso that is corupt you burn a corupt CD and it doesn't matter how many times you still burn a corrupt cd. so checksum for the iso. or just borrow a friends cd and copy cd. if your connection is fast try downloading using other mechanism like bittorrent/ download manager.

This should help with check the md5sum

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM#MD5SUM on Windows

The hashes are here

i cant find the same hash what shall i do then ?? and if you know a 100% working image can you send me the link (ubuntu 8.04 lt amd64) and please don't send me a bitorrent because it is too slow and because my download speed is already 20kb\s so with bitorrent it will be slower.......

Get it from here - http://releases.ubuntu.com/8.04/

If the hash for the download is different then the download is no good. If you get the same problem again then either use a torrent and wait for it or you could get it from shipit for free, although it will take a while to arrive.

Either one (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=765428). Both will work on your computer.

As far as I know that's 64 bit so you could use either.

but i think 64bit will work with a better performance

64 bit. You have the grunt, may as well use it. 32 bit apps will work anyhow, some require a little tweaking but nothing strenuous. You will get better performance. How much RAM?
