View Full Version : [xubuntu] Problems on first boot after install?

I used Wubi to install Xubuntu with the latest ISO.

I only used Wubi because the live CD wasn't booting all the way up.

So here's what happened: I installed, it all went fine, I rebooted and selected Xubuntu in the menu, and the default ubuntu wallpaper popped up on my first monitor. (My second monitor said that the video mode could not be displayed.)

Then this small rectangular window came up but it was all jagged and morphed and messed up :S I could move the mouse but that was about it...

I'm not really sure what to do, since when I tried the live CD it hardly loaded up anything, just the xubuntu loading bar and a baby blue screen.

My specifications are as follows:
Dell Dimension 5150

3.4GHz P4 HTT(hyperthreading) enabled

1 gig of DDR2 RAM

Nvidia GeForce 7800

70gb SATA HDD

Any help is appreciated.

HI and with the system specs you provided it should be no issues with ubuntu or xubuntu. You may try and boot into recovery mode from the grub and use the xfix option to correct the graphics issues.
