so the question is whats the best in interface packaging and such and also
my newbie q's
where to get PBI'S
themes?
icons?
is it as customizable as ubuntu?
also whats great about bsd

I like NetBSD best. It's stable, fast, and cleanly designed. The easiest BSDs are probably DesktopBSD and PC-BSD.

Of course it's as customizable since you will be using the same desktop environments so if you are using gnome, for themes and icons use gnome-look.org or whatever you prefer. As for PBI's thats only for PC-BSD which you can be accessed through the pbi website which are downloaded and installed like a windows exe unfortunately there really isn't a lot of software available for pbi's. I would recommend DesktopBSD as I know I enjoyed it but I have to say the new PC-BSD beta is looking sexy :D
