View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Changed display config, now errors...

I put in a new motherboard, and it wouldn't load. So I put back in my original board, and all's back to normal. Almost...

The log-in screen is displaying only the upper left quarter (taking up the whole screen).

Once everything is finished loading up, it's normal.

I changed one or 2 settings, and cannot remember what they were.

Help?

I just added it to my xorg.conf file:

SubSection "Display"
Virtual 1440 900
Depth 24
Modes "1440x900"
EndSubSection
This is within the -Section "Screen"-

AHHHhhhh the American way - a work-around!

I checked others screens already, only to confirm that all were equally affected, and of course, they were.

I think you're onto the solution there cdtech, but instead of re-sizing each image, perhaps we can find what setting changed the size of them all? I don't know what setting I changed, that affects only log in-screens...

Thanks...

I have the proprietary driver being used for my video card.

I assume this is why normal screen display is good. But why is the login screen too big to properly display???

Is there something in my Xorg configuration file that is wrong?

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by failsafeDexconf, using
# values from the debconf database and some overrides to use vesa mode.
#
# You should use dexconf or another such tool for creating a "real" xorg.conf
# For example:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Could be.

I reconfigured X, including monitor resolution, when it said it was starting in safe graphics mode, and I hit the right selection (although I don't remember changing to a lower setting JUST for login screen resolution  )

Thanks...
