my log with trying to install ndiswrapper

im using ubuntu 8. I tried the latest ndiswrapper 1.53
and this is what I got.......can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong. looks like it installed but when I tried using it. it says all this.

Sorry my mistake. You can install build-essential from the ubuntu cd. Put the cd into the cdrom and open a terminal and type

sudo apt-cdrom add
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential

If you have a working wired connection:


sudo aptitude install build-essential

If you just have the CD:


sudo apt-cdrom add
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install build-essential

Install ndiswrapper-util, ndiswrapper-common and ndisgtk from the cd. Once installed start up ndisgtk, have your windows drivers handy, you're going to need the *.inf file, and load the drivers.

is kismet the way to go.

what exactly does kismet do. it says that it detects network
but im guessing what it would actually so im going to give it a try.
