[SOLVED] Help !!! I've totally screwed up my system.....

Ok, I got this APToncd CD from my friend who uses linux mint, i tried installing a couple of packages using gdebi package installer , but some error always came up. so i tried this

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

I heard that dpkg -i saves the older packages somewhere incase something goes wrong , but i dont know how to do it?????
My systems really messed up , all the windows have no borders , all my shortcuts are gone, none of the movies are playing!!! help????????

Try typing in a terminal:
sudo apt-get -u upgrade

K, I did what you told and some 55 MB of stuff was downloaded . All my players are working properly and everything is ok , but my windows dont have title bars on them any thing i could do with that?????
