Feeling very adventurous. I have been using ubuntu since mid-May and I finally have my system setup exactly the way that I want it. This includes blubuntu theme, full open office, including configuration, evolution, x-server setup for my monitor, ALSA setup, nvidia setup, ...

In a perfect world, what I would like to be able to do is to be able to create a DVD that will allow me to install my perfectly configured ubuntu from scratch. I realise that I will have to back up my data.

I would also like to setup so that if I add a user, they will get the majority of the customisations - such as the blubuntu theme by default.

Failing perfect world, what do I need to backup in order to be able to easily restore everything, including the applications.

I'm a relative newbie, so instructions should be specific, but fortunately, I can blow things up relatively easily.

Thanks,

Remastersys will allow you to make a custom distro with your them and all your apps or a backup which will include your home folder.

Hope it makes your perfect world a reality.

Thanks to all who provided links for creating the CD/DVD. I'll be trying these and letting you know how I make out.

If I could also get some guidance on how to set up my system so that when I add a user, there are standard things that get added. In particular, there are standard applications that I would like to add to their desktop and some configuration on Open Office that I would like to preserve across all of the users.

Thanks,
