Attempting to use LiveCD

I am attempting to take advice from many install walkthroughs and use kubuntu for a while via LiveCD without installing. I have an HP dv6809wm laptop (AMD) and I am having trouble getting a good resolution (it only goes to 800x600). Kubuntu automatically uses the generic Vesa driver , so I go in and select the Nvidia GeForce 7 series card (the laptop has a NVIDIA GeForce 7150M). The problem is when I test it, x server says "no devices detected... I have now tested all the Nvidia card selections and none of them work.

I don't know how you would go about this on a liveCD, but it sounds like you don't have the nvidia drivers..

Is there a way I can get the drivers?
