I set dual monitor up using [gksudo nvidia-settings] and am using seperate-x screen and Xinerama. (extended desktop basically).

However after restarting my X I noticed that compiz is no longer working.

Even after a reboot I do not have the desktop cube and non of the key shortcuts seem to work except the ctrl+alt+ left right and down (to switch desktops)

I cant really help you, but I'm having the same issue. There is something that you can add to your xorg.conf, i tried, but ubuntu doesnt like the software for my 7600, so, it dropped my res. down to 800 x 600, so, its either compiz and my 22in, or no compiz and 22+19.

I just did a search, and this might help you.

Why did u choose separate X screens and Xinerama? You can also use twinview to extend your desktop, which does not break compiz.
