Hey there!
I have a few quick questions!

I wanna upgrade my current 7.10 ubuntu to the 8.04 version, but I have a load of photos I wanna backup, but there is not enough room on my drives.
Also, the optical drive died on me a few weeks back.
So, this is what I'm thinking:
-we have another ubuntu box in the house, there is enough room there for my files, but I cannot make the network work, so I could transfer my files onto it.
-I have an usb stick large enough for installing ubuntu from it.

So, if you are kind enough, I desperately need a clear guide for networking between two UBUNTU pcs, not ubuntu and xp, or vista!, 'cause that's what I found so far... My laptop uses wireless, if that is important...

I think I can manage the install from the usb stick, only one question there: I have a separate /home partition, for cases like this, but will that make my new ubuntu have all the applications and setting I have now?? Never did this before...

Thank you for any help, it will be greatly appreciated.

as long as they are on the same network:

Places->Network-><computer name>

you should be able to copy files over

Well, this is what I get: Couldn't find "network:///The-Music-Machine".

Did you mean to put in the pc name in nautilus after I go to Places>Networks? 'cause that's what I did.
Other ideas?
