View Full Version : [xubuntu] xfce messed up with kde desktop

I'm using 7.10 (Gutsy?), uptodate with patches.

Normally I use xfce for my session, having installed xubuntu-desktop from the repositories. Recently I wanted to set up a very restricted kiosk-like kde-based account for a visitor, so I installed the kde-desktop etc, which gave me an alternative full-blown kde environment, and from my own account used kiosktool to restrict the guest account. That works fine, but now I find that an xfce session insists on launching a kde desktop on top of the xfce desktop. It looks bizarre, because the kde panel sits above the xfce panel (and seems to work) and I get the kde desktop with icons etc sitting over the xfce background.

I've examine all the xfce config files, both in my ~ folder and in /etc, and I can't see anything to entice the kde desktop to be loaded. How do I remove this 'pollution' from my xfce session?
