Something is wrong

Ok when i go into terminal and do su or what ever to log into root
it asks me for my pw but i can't type anything into the box any know the fix :) plus i'm new to ubuntu and i'm loving it

When you type your password you will not see it displayed on screen, so go ahead and type your password then press enter.

Your password won't be displayed...because it's your password!
But in reality you are still entering you password. :)
