View Full Version : Pink tinted raw images in GIMP

Newbie here so please bear with me.

Whenever I open a RAW file in GIMP it has a pink tint to it. I have searched but did not find a fix for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Camera Canon Digital Rebel XSI
GIMP v 2.4.6

Have tried dcraw and ufraw with the same result of a pink tinted image.

I do have desktop effects on. What do I need to do, turn them off or uninstall them?

Don't uninstall them, try turning them off.

Turned them off no luck.

Also they open fine in F-Spot just not GIMP

Is it when you import the photos from your camera?

You might want to check that your white balance settings are OK. I had a similar problem with funny colours until I realized UFRaw was set to Auto WB or Shade or something. I had to set it to camera WB and all was well again. I hope the solution is a simple for you.

Its an issue with ufraw ( google is the answer here).
Just adjust the colour profile in gimp or if possible in ufraw.

The XSI RAW file format isn't yet supported in dcraw, so for that matter, ufraw, or any linux raw converver as far as I'm aware. So for now it's not possible to get rid of the pink cast. You'll have to resort to something else until someone reverse engineers it (try running canon's software on wine in the meantime if you don't have dual-boot). If it helps, try contacting the author of dcraw and see if they need any sample raw images to work with.

OK, here's another option as I see xsi raw format is still not supported in ufraw, dcraw. Try raw studio. I guess they've got a patch applied and there's no more pink tint.
