This is great! I was just trying, and failing, to get Gnash and Swfdec working in Opera because 64 bit Flash had finally irritated me too much. Hopefully it'll be released soon.

I have no issues with closed source when it just works, so this is GREAT news. :)

Other than flash it is only that there is no 64 bit .deb of Boxee that troubles me. (Near release though).

Ok, but 32-bit Adobe Flash also works without any issues on 64-bit Ubuntu.

A 64-bit native Flash is not really a big deal...

yes but there were issues running the 32bit flash in a 64bit distro from what I heard.

Such as? I am running 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04 and have 32-bit Adobe Flash installed. It's just as easy to install as on 32-bit Ubuntu; the installer automatically installs a wrapper to make it work in 64-bit Firefox, and it works without any problems.

The wrapper is unstable on my system. A native 64 bit flash is exciting news to me.

I've found 32 bit Flash very unstable in Opera 64 bit.

Not for me it doesn't. It ends up consuming a tonne of RAM and CPU cycles.

I suspect I'll be sticking with Swfdec even if/when they release a 64bit version... for the little that I use Flash, I'd rather use something that's FOSS.

The wrapper is good but a native would be tons better.
