I have no chance of burning one. I need the alternative CD. You can't request that can you?

So any other way? With the alternative installer.

Thanks

cd burners are cheap. new under forty dollars. used at goodwill around ten dollars. get one.

Well thanks but I'll just wait until I have my MacBook. I'll use the Live CD then.

I therefore assume the answer is no.

from what i've read there is. but you'd end up spending more time than it's worth in doing it. going to the store buying a new burner and installing it would be faster, and less stressful.

I believe there is a way to put the .iso image on a USB flashdrive, I haven't tried it myself but my friends dad did. :-)

you did note that the thread is over three years old, right? there's no way i'd do it. at some point you're going to need a working cd drive anyway.

I can update once I've installed it, no? and only using an internet connection.

I was wondering about an external drive. I'll look into that also.

I should do this tomorrow though. I'm tired and can't think too straight for this.

Wow. So no one has ever heard of this then? http://wubi-installer.org/

lol No surprise because I should have found it myself ages ago. I'm installing now. I feel this time I will be lucky.

But yes, if anyone wants to install ubuntu without a CD and are running out of options, use that.

Wubi requires *******...

Try UNetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/).

Oops, didn't realize that you are the OP. Of course you would know if you had ******* installed! Wubi's a good choice for your situation.
