This (http://www.geocities.com/rcwoolley/mscement_hires.png) could be revolutionary. It could even put us Linux folks out of business!

If you want to show us something, don't post it on Geocities. Their bandwidth limit is a bad joke.

The site isn't mine, I found it on another forum.

I didn't even try the link but I'm guessing this is about Singularity. I've read the papers on it and it does sound promising for micro$oft but then again someone will do it with linux sooner or later.

Actually it's just a poor attempt at humour.

Singularity is cool, I'll even admit its promise, as a non-Microsoft guy myself.

Though I don't see how an OSS operating system wouldn't come up with a competitor pretty quick!

What's singularity?

Aww... I didn't think it was that bad :) . Granted that I rarely bash Microsoft...

Every single time someone links to GeoCities the page never loads.

Seems to me that they're doing what my friend predicted... moving to managed code so as to eliminate as many problems that are associated with unmanaged code. Which will mean the end of many obnoxious windows bugs/blue screen of death/etc as we know of...

?

That picture is a total joke, it's been around for at least a few years. I have no idea about singularity, but that picture and GeoCities sites are total jokes. Anyway, if it was something Mictosoft officail, it defiantly would not be hosted on Geocities :-)

Unfortunately, Microsoft will probably create something really nice and never bring it to market. But not only that, they'll cover it with enough patents, that no one else will either.

Ah well, it was my first time ever seeing, it, so I thought it was brand new :) .

I don't think so. Windows has come under alot of flak due to its crappy security (I blame the users mostly.) Imo, what they're trying to do is make the new OS as idiot-proof as possible and if they do it well, then they'll be able to polish up their tarnished image (more will trust their products again.)

You mean... WinFS? Vista/Longhorn? Blackcomb? ;)

I doubt it. They've been receiving flak for how long now? [looking at watch] No. The Windows OS family is a gargantuan beast, and it HAS to be. Otherwise, it would be too easy to reverse engineer and compete. I seriously doubt anything will come of this. I hope I'm wrong, but my experience tells me not to think too highly of MS, and you'll never be disappointed.
