I'm looking to buy a small netbook (like the ASUS eee) and was just wondering if anyone knows when Ubuntu Remix will be released?

I hope we soon we see Remix preinstalled on netbooks :)

It is rumored that Dell Inspiron 910 (http://www.small-laptops.com/2008/08/22/dell-inspiron-910-september/) will come with Ubuntu Netbook Remix and that it will be out next month.

You can already install Ubuntu Netbook Remix on other netbooks now though, using the launchpad PPA. Look for more netbooks on http://small-laptops.com

Thanks wersdaluv, sounds interesting - let's hope that the rumor is true ;-)

Ubuntu Netbook Remix is already available:

http://www.canonical.com/netbooks
https://launchpad.net/netbook-remix

It also works on normal PCs (it doesn't work only on netbooks). You could install it in a VirtualBox or VMWare virtual machine to play with it.

I'm also waiting for the Dell Inspiron 910... Dell Inspiron 910 in the Wild, With Ubuntu (http://www.small-laptops.com/2008/08/22/dell-inspiron-910-in-the-wild-with-ubuntu/)

There already is an Ubuntu flavour for the EEEPC. It has two versions, one with Gnome and one with NBR.

NBR works beautifully.

You can transform Ubuntu to look like the netbook remix.

Look here for more details:

The Ubuntu netbook remix launcher running on my Ubuntu 8.04 laptop:

Dell and Sylvania netbooks will feature Ubuntu Netbook Remix on them.

And afaik it's already available if you want to tinker with manually setting up up... me, I'll be hoping that more OEM's do it for me ;)
