Hello. I'm the Speaker Coordinator on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Linuxfest Foundation. We are planning to hold the first annual Southeast Linuxfest on 6/13/09 in the Greenville-Spartanburg area of South Carolina. We aim to be like the Atlanta Linux Showcase (which eventually moved out west and became LinuxWorld) and the Ohio Linuxfest. Our official mission statement is:

The Southeast LinuxFest is a community event for anyone who wants to learn more about Linux and Free & Open Source software. It is part educational conference, and part social gathering. Like Linux itself, it is shared with attendees of all skill levels to communicate tips, ideas, and to benefit all who use Linux/Free Open Source Software. LinuxFest is the place to learn, to make new friends, to network with new business partners, and most importantly, to have fun!

To get to the point ... I would love to have speaker(s) from Canonical/Ubuntu/Kubuntu at this event. We have already confirmed the following speakers, barring last minute conflicts:

- Chris DiBona, grand poobah of open source at Google
- Mark Digium, CEO of Digium and creator of Asterisk
- Russel Bryant, Lead package maintainer for Asterisk
- Robbie Workman, Slackware dev/maintainer
- Ryan "icculus" Gordon, aka the ENTIRE Linux game industry (UT2004, Doom III, etc etc)
- Michael DeHaan, Red Hat coder... created func, cobbler, and more
- Paul Frields, Chairman of the Fedora Project Board who does an awful lot in Fedora

We'd love to have some Canonical/*buntu loving to go with that superstar lineup.
