I use Hardy Heron 64 and have some shortcuts to various websites on my desktop via bookmarking in Epiphany which is my default browser, as I prefer it to Firefox for password-saving reasons. However, when I click on the shortcut up pops Firefox instead.

Anyone got any ideas how to rectify this annoying ocurrence?!!

try this

if firefox is popping up and not epiphany I would assume it is the default browser unless you have already changed it.

Yeah ... I've gone through all that ... Epiphany is officially my default browser but the shortcuts repeatedly go via Firefox ... very strange ... thanks for the suggestion, anyway.

Try right-clicking on one of your shortcuts and select Properties, then click on the "Open With..." tab.
You should be able to choose Epiphany over Firefox that way.
