it will give you an error...

what does that mean?

not to mention the slowness of the site!

its hosted on godaddy, it shouldn't be that slow!

Joomla can be frustrating. It looks like your contact page is taking me to
yoursite.com/index.php/contact.html which looks like a mistake. Did you write this html page yourself? Then you must direct the Contact link to the html page. Probably to yoursite.com/contact.html.
You could have used on of the many available contact form addons for Joomla
